Ihilani JW Marriott Hotel (Hawaii) FoodThe food is expensive, but unlike most hotel food it is delicious. Breakfast, lunch, dinner - every meal we had at the Ihilani was incredible. They had the freshest fruits (some which I had never had before) and got my wife hooked on coconut syrup on pancakes. Location The hotel is about 40 minutes from the airport. Also, you aren't in downtown Honolulu, so if you want to go to the Polynesian Cultural Center, Pearl Harbor, Dole Plantation, etc., you are going to need a rental car. What you lack in convenience, however, is made up for in seclusion. The hotel sits on a private lagoon with a coral reef that is perfect for snorkeling. And it's not a public beach so it's never too crowded - a huge draw in Hawaii. Perfect for the family This is a great hotel for the kids - the hotel has sharks and stingrays (small ones) swimming in the canals winding through the hotel and koi in the ponds out front. The kids can even go watch them feed the stingrays - really cool. The rooms are nice, but beware, the size of your room seems to be luck of the draw. We went with five families and we each had a different sized room for the same rate. Still, even the small rooms are big enough and you probably won't feel cramped. The hotel is 5-stars all the way - comfortable mattresses, nice pillows, nice HDTV's. Also, every room has a great review. Oceanview rooms are slightly more expensive but we found the island views just as nice. The pool A 5-star resort in Hawaii must have a nice pool and the Ihilani delivers. It is a horizon pool (outdoor), decent-sized and open late (10 PM I believe). The pool has a full bar next to it and live music was playing on the weekend. If you want an unforgettable vacation I highly recommend the Ihilani. It would also be a perfect honeymoon or anniversary spot. |
