Springhill Suites Detroit Metro Airport

Spring Hill Suites Detroit

The Springhill Suites Detroit Metro Airport is located near the airport, and is about a 10 minute shuttle ride from the Detroit Airport. The shuttle, which is complimentary, was a pleasant ride to and from the airport. We stayed overnight at the Springhill Suites Detroit Metro Airport and were pleasantly surprised not only by how nice the room was, but how friendly and helpful the staff was.

Arrival
We arrived late at night - approximately midnight local time, but everything was ready for us, and the staff was pleasant to work with, and very friendly. The room was spacious with plenty of room for a Pack N Play, which the hotel provided for our 1 year old. The bed was comfortable, which was nice since we were quite tired from our trip from Salt Lake City.

The room was equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, and a small dining area, which worked out great since we came in too late to try and find a restaurant. As with all Springhill Suites, there was a small "store" where we could buy frozen meals and ice cream and snacks, which we did.

Breakfast
The hotel served a continental breakfast, which was from 6:30-9:30am. It was early, but it worked out fine for us. I think some people missed breakfast because it ended so early, but with a 1 year old, we were up and eating nice and early. The selection was surprisingly diverse, with waffles, muffins, yogurt, pastries, bagels, and other options available. We happily enjoyed a hot breakfast, and it worked out well for our toddler as well.

We enjoyed our time in Detroit, and actually wished that we had more time to spend there doing some sightseeing. The Ford Museum has excellent reviews, and we thought it would be a very interesting place to go. The Detroit Zoo is also nearby, as is the Detroit Science Center. We also thought it might be fun to listen to some Eminem while taking a cab down 8 Mile. Just kidding. Sort of.

Final thoughts
Overall, I would recommend staying at the Springhill Suites Detroit Metro Airport. All of the staff that we worked with were very helpful and friendly, and the amenities were adequate for our stay. It is a basic hotel, however, it was nicer than what I was expecting, and the room rates were good (approx USD $79 per night). If we come back to Detroit, or have another layover here, we would definitely come back to stay at the Springhill Suites Detroit Metro Airport.
