C151 Smart Villa Seminyak Review: Bali, Indonesia

Want an amazing, high-tech, unforgettable vacation in a tropical paradise? C151 Smart Villas will surpass any of your expectations.

So what makes it so cool? First of all, the technology - Bose speakers everywhere, a high-tech Toto toilet, flat screen TV's everywhere you look (even right by the high-tech toilet), underwater speakers, remote-controlled drapes. Also, the property of each villa is secured with a gate (which is also controlled remotely).

You'll find yourself spending a lot of time thinking about what kind of tenant must have stayed in your villa before you - James Bond comes to mind.

Villa
So what is a villa anyway? Apparently this is one of the things that Bali is famous for. The villa we stayed in consisted of 3 small buildings with a pool in the middle. It is very private - would be perfect for a honeymooning couple or a couple of recluses. My only warning would be that you would always have to keep an eye on your kids if they are younger - the pool is not covered (I'm not sure that kids are even allowed to stay there).

Location
C151 Seminyak is only about a 15-minute terrifying drive from the airport. OK, most people probably wouldn't think it's that bad, but to me the drivers seem aggressive to say the least. You are a 10-minute walk from a nice beach and a short drive to pretty much anywhere on the island.

I highly recommend the Sacred Monkey Forest in Ubud - it is a short drive from the hotel (maybe 30-45 minutes depending on traffic), but well worth the drive. Basically it is a forest where the monkeys have the run of the place. You can buy bananas to feed them but beware - they will attack you (they're little, it isn't that scary, but my wife did end up with a monkey on her head).

If you would rather observe wildlife from the comfort of your car I recommend Taman Safari (locations in both Jakarta and Bali).
